Who We Are

Navdrushti is a development and research oriented non-profit organization focused on the upliftment of underprivileged sections of the society with its footprints in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya.

Our beneficiaries include tribals, malnourished children, rural farmers, women, underprivileged rural children and youth. The purpose of Navdrushti’s programme is to offer their beneficiaries a better sustainable life. The core activities under our various programmes include providing quality education, proper healthcare facilities, balanced nutrition, skill development training, creation of employment opportunities, afforestation, environmental awareness and women empowerment.

Our Vision : Develop and provide research based health, nutrition, agroforestry and sanitation models for community replications besides supporting digital literacy and skill development needs of the underprivileged sections of the community.

Our Mission : Our mission is to address social, economic and gender inequalities among underprivileged sections of the society and bring about empowerment of such marginalized groups through initiatives in health, education, life-skills training, livelihood and creation and empowerment of political stakeholder groups, with special focus on women and youth to maximize control on their own lives.

Registered Trust: Navdrushti is a registered charitable trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 and Society Act with 12A and 80G certification.

Led by Dr. Nagesh S. Tekale (President since 2004, trained at Wilmer Eye Institute and John Hopkins School of Medicine, USA)
Dr. Mrs. Sumitra Tekale (Fellow trustee specialized in the areas of healthcare and nutrition of tribal women and children).

The Beginning
In 1992 when hundreds of tribal children died from malnutrition-related diarrhea in Jawhar and Mokhada, four MSW students from Nirmala Niketan College worked tirelessly to save Grade IV babies. Their dedication led to the formation of Navdrushti in 1996
